A Step-by-Step Tutorial to Set Up your First Website with Siteground Hosting plan (2min. read)
The process to set up your first WordPress website begins with selection and purchase of a Domain Name. Once you have decided and registered an available one, you will proceed to purchase a self-hosting plan for your own website with a Hosting Provider.
Tip 1: Always own the Domain and Hosting Subscription Plan yourself. Hiring a web agency to host the website for you, isn't the same.
You can register both Domain and Hosting from same company, or different one. It doesn’t matter which Domain Registrar you use, and price difference isn’t much, but choose a Hosting Provider wisely.
Tip 2: A good or bad Hosting Provider strongly influences your website speed and ranking.
For this reason, I strongly recommend Siteground for starters and here is my extended explanation why I moved to Siteground. It is also officially recommended by WordPress and many other web owners.

For simplicity, let’s get started by selecting a Domain Name and a Hosting Plan with Siteground.

Step 1: Choose a Siteground Hosting Plan (special price applies)
Choose from here. As of writing, its 12 months plan is the best deal, with the cheapest average cost per month.
If you are very sure to have more than 1 website within your 1st year, go with GrowBig plan, as it offers unlimited website hosting. But it is also ok if you choose to start with the StartUp plan and then later having to upgrade before the period ends. You will only be required to pay the price difference of remaining tenure, but at the renewal rate, and not the special rate.
Step 2: Choose your Domain

Step 3: Review & Complete your payment

Fill in information to create a new account with Siteground with the email address you are going to manage your website hosting.
Tip 3: Choose a Data Center that is closest to your majority of your website audience. If it’s meant for a global audience, any option will be fine.
The extra services are optional. Complete the payment with any Debit or Credit Card issued by Visa/Mastercard/American Express.
Step 4: Install WordPress – free Content Management System a.k.a Web Builder
On your first time login to Siteground User Area, you will be prompted with Account Setup Wizard which will walk you through the process to start a new website.
If you don’t see it, look for options similar to “Create New Website” and choose WordPress as a software to install. You can also choose WooCommerce if you are setting up an e-commerce.
Alternatively, if you need some hand-holding, you may email Bart at migmarketingresources@gmail.com, or contact Siteground support section directly to install it for you. For the avoidance of doubt, look for Support section within User Area after logging in to your new Siteground account.
You will be asked to create your login access for WordPress.
Once it is installed, typically you can access your WordPress dashboard via www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin to start creating content. If needed, check with Siteground on the login access path.

Hola! It’s that simple. You have made the first step and the journey has just begun. Good on you!
